Actress Amy Adams has secured the role to play the 60’s singer, Janis Joplin, in the much anticipated biopic. Twilight Saga producer Wyck Godfrey will produced while Fernando Meirelles will helm the said film.
Janis, who died of a drug overdose at age 27. The official cause of death was an overdose of heroin, possibly combined with the effects of alcohol. She's recording her upcoming album "Pearl" at the time.
Rolling Stone magazine ranked Joplin number 46 on its list of the 100 Greatest Artists of All Time in 2004 and number 28 on its 2008 list of 100 Greatest Singers of All Time.
Some of her hits are "Me and Bobby McGee" and "Piece of My Heart" and TIME magazine called Joplin "probably the most powerful singer to emerge from the white rock movement."
