The competition has ended and the voter's vote has been counted, the first Pinoy Idol is (....drum rolls) 20-year-old Gretchen Espina. The Biliran talent beats Jayann Bautista and Ram Chaves.
Rocker Ram Chaves is the first idol hopeful to be eliminated in the last Final 3 to give way to the final showdown performance (singing the coronation song "To You").
The crowd inside SMX of SM Mall of Asia are rumbling and chanting for their favorite idols.
At the end Gretchen was proclaimed the first Pinoy Idol. Gretchen is the only finalist who never joined the bottom list during the elimination.
Gretchen went home with P1 million in cash, a recording contract with SonyBMG Records, management contract with GMA Artist Center, a brand new car, and a house-and-lot from Avida.
Pinoy band Pupil, Callalily, and Rivermaya also performs on the center stage.
