Former Basketball player Manute Bol, who was best known for being one of the tallest men to play in National Basketball Associatio (NBA), passed away at the University of Virginia Medical Center in Charlottesville, Virginia on Saturday (June 19). He was 47.
A native from Sudan, he died from acute kidney failure and complications from Stevens–Johnson syndrome.
Having 7 ft 7 in (2.31 m) height, Bol set the rookie shot blocking record in 1985-86 and he holds the all time NBA record for most blocked shots per minute but sadly his skills is not as versatile as Yao Ming.
He is the only player in NBA history to block more shots than points scored, blocking 2,086 shots and scoring 1,599 points. Bol played for the Warriors, 76ers and Heat during his NBA career.
Bol was also involved in different charities. He established the Ring True Foundation in order to continue fundraising for Sudanese refugees
