Oscars' Top 9 Best Foreign Language Film, "Ploning" failed to get the nod (2009)

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences releases their top nine films that has the chance to be included in the nomination list on January 22 and be proclaim Best Foreign Language Film on the Oscars awards night.

The top 9 out of 65 films around the world:

"Waltz With Bashir" (Israel) *Golden-Globe winner
"Revanche" (Austria)
"The Necessities of Life" (Canada)
"The Class" (France)
"The Baader Meinhof Complex" (Germany)
"Departures" (Japan)
"Tear This Heart Out" (Mexico)
"Everlasting Moments" (Sweden)
"3 Monkeys" (Turkey)

This short list will be narrowed down to five nominees by specially selected committees, both in Los Angeles and New York, who will spend this weekend screening three films per day.

Dante "Nico" Garcia's movie "Ploning" starring Judy Ann Santos from the Philippines failed to reached the cut.

The 81st annual Academy Awards will be on February 22, 2009 at Kodak Theatre, Los Angeles, CA.
