Madonna in Rock and Roll Hall of Fame

Madonna will add another title to her successful career,the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Madonna with Canadian singer-songwriter Leonard Cohen, British Band The Dave Clark Five, John Mellencamp and California surf rock instrumentalists The Ventures was announced the new inductees for 2008 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

A panel of 600 industry figures selected the five inductees. To be eligible, artists must have issued a first single or album at least 25 years before nomination.

Madonna, age 49 still rocks and has sold more than 200 million albums worldwide and her 2006 Confessions Tour holds the record for the top-grossing concert tour by a female artist.

"The 2008 inductees are trailblazers—all unique and influential in their genres," Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Foundation President and CEO Joel Peresman said in a statement. "From poetry to pop, these five acts demonstrate the rich diversity of rock and roll itself."


The twenty-third annual induction ceremony will take place at the Waldorf Astoria hotel in New York City on March 10, 2008.
