Roman Polanski granted bail ($4.5 million)

Minor freedom for Oscar-winning film director Roman Polanski after the Swiss court granted him a $4.5 million bail but still the Swiss government has the last say.

76-year-old director will be wearing an electronic monitoring device on his ankle and remain under house arrest.
"The court considers bail in the amount of 4.5 million Swiss francs offered by Polanski, together with supporting measures, as being sufficient to avert the risk of flight," the Swiss Federal Criminal Court said in a statement.
U.S. and Switzerland is currently working out his extradition details.

Polanski pleaded guilty to having sex with a 13-year-old girl in 1977 but then fled the United States before he could be sentenced.
