Filipina veteran actress and now Parañaque City counselor Alma Moreno is facing estafa charges from an advertising agency, the Media Arts Yielding Ads, Inc. (MAYA).
The actress is reportedly violates the Anti-Bouncing Check Law (Batas Pambansa 22). The case was filed at the Parañaque Prosecutor’s Office.
MAYA legal counsel Benedict Malcontento explained that Alma Moreno hired the ad agency to provide services for her campaign for the 2007 elections. Ms. Moreno issued a bouncing check amounting to P390,000.
In her defense, she admitted her lapse and blamed her campaign representative for mismanaging the releasing of checks and failing to supply the necessary amount to her bank account.
