Robin Williams' smooth surgery and now recovering

Oscar winner Robin Williams had surgery and now recovering at the Cleveland Clinic in Ohio.

A statement was released by Robin's rep from cardiothoracic surgeon via TMZ:

"Mr. Williams' operation went extremely well and we expect him to make a full recovery. The 3 1/2 hour heart surgery was conducted to replace his aortic valve, repair his mitral valve, and correct his irregular heart beat.

His heart is strong and he will have a normal heart function in the coming weeks with no limitations on what he'll be able to do.

A couple of hours after surgery, he was entertaining the medical team and making us laugh."

Expected to make a complete recovery from his recent heart surgery in the next two months and plans to resume his comedy tour.

It was announced that funnyman Robin Williams is postponing the rest of his one-man comedy tour "Weapons of Self-Destruction" due to a heart problem.

In a recent statement by his rep., Robin Williams is "to undergo surgery for an aortic valve replacement."

William also has released a statement, "I'm so touched by everyone’s support and well wishes. This tour has been amazing fun and I can’t wait to get back out on the road after a little tune-up."

Hopefully, the tour will resume this fall.

The centrepiece of the film will be bringing to life the Smithsonian Institution, which houses the world's largest museum complex with more than 136 million items in its collections, ranging from the plane Amelia Earhart (Amy Adams) flew on her non-stop solo flight across the Atlantic and Al Capone's rap sheet and mug shot to Dorothy's ruby red slippers, Fonzie's jacket from "Happy Days" and Archie Bunker's lounge chair from "All in the Family."

Other cast includes Dick Van Dyke, Robin Williams, Amy Adams, Owen Wilson, Rami Malek, Hank Azaria, Bill Hader, Ricky Gervais, Christopher Guest and Steve Coogan. It is set for release on May 22, 2009.
