2010 Awards and recognitions for TV5

TV5 ("Kapatid network", "Happy Network") is keeping the competition high as the fast rising station is now a proven kids' favorite after bagging 16 recognitions at the recent Anak TV Awards by the Southeast Asian Foundation for Children and Television.

Ryan Agoncillo was awarded the Favorite Anak TV Makabata Star for being a good influence among children surveyed, while Talentadong Pinoy was a Top TV Program Household Favorite. Mustard TV (a 30-minute children's show that teaches kids about Jesus and the Bible), The World Exposed with Bishop Chito Tagle and 12 other kids' shows previously aired on TV5 were among the programs given an Anak TV seal.

TV5 also reaped four trophies at the 19th Golden Dove Awards by the Kapisanan ng mga Brodkaster ng Pilipinas (KBP), which included Talentadong Pinoy (Best TV Games/Variety Program), Lokomoko U (Best TV Comedy Program), USI: Under Special Investigation (Best TV Documentary Program) and Paolo Bediones (Best TV Documentary Program Host).

Among the Kapatid wins, the recognition given to Paolo Bediones as exemplary host of a documentary program earned him badge of integrity after shifting to journalism from entertainment. 'Personally this is a very, very important milestone for me. Ito ang una kong taon bilang mamamahayag. Kaya ang pagkilala pong ito ay mahalaga po sa akin. Maraming, maraming salamat, KBP,' expressed Paolo in his acceptance speech at the awarding ceremony held in Tagaytay City.

Meanwhile, TV5 earned its first Philippine Quill Award of Merit through News5's back-to-school public service project 'Oplan Sigla sa Skwela' for excellence in Communication Management in Economic, Social and Environmental Division. Led by News5 Public Service head Sherryl Yao, the project aimed at teaching pupils of good hygiene practices when the school year opened last June.

The 24th Star Awards for Television also recognized Vic Sotto as Best Variety Game Show Host for Who Wants To Be a Millionaire, and the defunct teen program Lipgloss as Best Youth-Oriented Program.

TV5 is now on the rise in Philippine television, launching new programs and acquiring roster of talents coming from different networks. TV5 wants to be known as the "Kapatid" Network.

Paolo Bediones signed exclusive contract to TV5

GMA Network was overjoyed when they achieved to signed former ABS-CBN actress Claudine Barretto but even though the kapuso network gain a great actress, the network failed to give a convincing contract to their own talent/TV host Paolo Bediones.

The Suvivor Philippines host Paolo Bediones has transferred from GMA to TV5, signing an exclusive three-year contract.

Paolo has a long relationship with GMA, he worked on programs like Whammy! Push Your Luck, Unang Hirit, GMA Network—Game Plan, Extra! Extra!, S Files, Extra Challenge, Channel S, two seasons of Survivor Philippines and many more.

He also done some acting stint with the movies “Walang Kapalit” (2003) and “Exodus” (2005), and in the TV primetime “Captain Barbell.”

Paolo shared that their are no hard feelings between him and GMA network.

Aside from being the new exclusive talent of TV5, Paolo also has a new position in management which will handle future programs.

Manny Pangilinan's TV5 is really gaining grounds and can compete actively with the two big networks (ABS-CBN & GMA). Just leveling up the playing fields!!!

Survivor Philippines Season 2 in Palau; airing on August 17, 2009

After the success of their first season which took place in Ko Tarutao, Thailand, Survivor Philippines Season 2 will now take place in Palau. It is located southeast of the Philippines. The island is very known for there tourist activities which focus on scuba diving and snorkeling in the islands' rich marine environment

John Carlo "JC" Tiuseco, the first Pinoy Sole Survivor is one of the host of GMA-7's morning show "Unang Hirit" and he also pursuing his acting career.

Hosted by Paolo Bediones and the Pinoy Sole Survivor will take home 3,000,000 pesos. The show is scheduled to air on August 17, 2009 on GMA-7.

Paolo Bediones warned viewers about Survivor Philippines "spoiler"

Paolo Bediones, host of Survivor Philippines warned the show's viewers about Survivor "spoiler" and denied rumors that 23 year-old John Carlo “JC” Tiuseco is the first winner of Survivor Philippines.

The rumored spoilers was came from an entertainment blog claiming JC as the winner ansd it was obtained from an alleged staff members of Survivor Philippines indiscreetly talked about the show inside a coffee shop.

Paolo said, "Spoilers come from people who make it their business to ruin the show for others. Ninety-five percent of those are untrue. But thanks to them, people are now more curious about the show."

Paolo also explained that it's impossible to identify the winner because only the program manager knows the final result. The contestants who comprised the Jury cast their final votes before they left Koh Tarutao, or popularly known as Devil's Island, in Thailand last September. Everything will be revealed, live, on the last broadcast day of the show.
